ACU Will Score Vote
on Final Passage in House of the 527 Reform Act in 2006 "Rating of Congress"
ALEXANDRIA, VA— The American Conservative Union,
the nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative lobbying organization, today announced that it would score the House vote on the final passage of H.R. 513, the
527 Reform Act by Representatives Christopher Shays and Martin
Meehan.
"ACU rarely announces in advance the votes it will score," said ACU
Executive Vice President Bill Lauderback. “Our decision to announce
that we will score the upcoming vote on final passage of H.R. 513 demonstrates
clearly how critical ACU regards this terribly misguided legislation.”
“ACU considers it outrageous that the House Rules Committee voted a Closed
Rule on H.R. 513, thus not allowing the free-speech substitute proposed
by Representatives Mike Pence and Albert Wynn to be offered on the House floor,” Lauderback
continued.
“ACU urges all members of the House to vote No on final
passage of H.R. 513,” Lauderback concluded.
