Conservatives Mourn the Loss of Ambassador Jeane J. Kirkpatrick

David A. Keene, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, today issued the following statement concerning the death of Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick :

“Conservatives and indeed all freedom-loving Americans are deeply saddened today to learn of the death of our good friend Ambassador Jeane Kirkpatrick. Appointed by President Reagan to be the first woman to serve as Permanent Representative of the U.S. to the United Nations, Jean was a no nonsense, fierce fighter for American interests. She served during the Cold Wars years of 1981-85 – a time that called for a strong advocate for advancing and protecting American interests. The Medal of Freedom award she received back in 1985 was so richly deserved.”

“Her keen understanding of foreign policy, sharp intellect, and steadfast opposition to the tyranny of communism helped shape President’s Reagan vision for winning the Cold War. Jeane’s contributions to our country over the years will not soon be equaled. We’ve lost a great defender of freedom.”
