CAPITOL HILL AND GRASSROOTS CONSERVATIVES UNITED:
PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF THE AMERICAN TAXPAYER
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Earlier today, the American Conservative Union (ACU) declared its support for the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) “American Taxpayer Bill of Rights” at a press conference on the terrace of the Cannon House Office Building in Washington D.C. alongside RSC Members led by RSC Chairman, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). ACU was represented by Executive Vice President J. William Lauderback at the event.
“Limiting the growth of the federal government while providing total Social Security compensation, a guarantee to balance the budget, combined with an approach that encourages tax code simplicity and fairness remind us that the principles of conservative tax reform are, in fact, alive and well on Capitol Hill thanks to the RSC and the leadership of Chairman Hensarling,” said Lauderback. “It’s worth noting, especially with the annual federal tax filing deadline around the corner, Americans as a whole consistently reflect a desire to reform the U.S. Tax Code from a conservative perspective, despite the efforts of clichéd tax-and-spend Democrats who would rather use the Tax Code as a mechanism for funding government-sponsored attempts at social reform.”
“ACU’s long history fighting liberals’ tax hikes and government spending include several legislative victories over the years,” noted Lauderback, “and we look forward to fighting –and winning–this one on behalf of every American taxpayer who believes that it’s time to right the ship and stop the run of recent congressional spending binges.”
